The Mercury Prize with FREE NOW has been given a new date.

The annual ceremony was due to take place earlier this month, when rumours about the Queen’s health threw plans into disarray. The ceremony was initially slated to go ahead as planned, until steps were taken to remove the red carpet greetings for artists.

News of Her Majesty’s passing was confirmed shortly after 6pm, and – with guests already seated – organisers were forced to immediately halt the London ceremony.

Promising a return once the country had settled, organisers have been true to their word. The new date for the Mercury Prize with FREE NOW 2022 is October 18th – a Tuesday eve, this time.

It all kicks off at 9pm, with the BBC covering the event live.

The 2022 Mercury Prize with FREE NOW ‘Albums of the Year’ are:

Fergus McCreadie  ‘Forest Floor’
Gwenno  ‘Tresor’
Harry Styles ‘Harry’s House’
Jessie Buckley & Bernard Butler ‘For All Our Days That Tear the Heart’

Little Simz ‘Sometimes I Might be Introvert’
Nova Twins ‘Supernova’
Sam Fender ‘Seventeen Going Under’
