Tender Glue has shared his new album ‘Not So Very Nice’.
The songwriter – real name Tom Gluewicki – was raised in Poland, and started playing guitar before his teens. Transplanted to New York two decades ago, he calls the city home, and has inserted himself in New York’s incredible creative communities.
His first EP under this name came back in 2015, fusing together different shades of dreamy guitar pop. His last album came in 2018, with Tender Glue continuing to evolve on its own terms.
Lockdown brought space, and a chance to re-align; working with alacrity, Tender Glue has brought these ideas together for his first album in four years.
Out now, ‘Not So Very Nice’ matches neat guitar tones against expertly pieced together songwriting, with comparisons moving between those early Beach Fossils EPs, Cocteau Twins, and modern bedroom pop artists like Caveotown.
His euphoric single ‘At the Same Time’ received a lot of attention, with Tender Glue commenting: “This song represents the feeling of being sad and happy at the same time. I have always felt strongly about fall for some reason. It gives me this feeling of being happily sad. Perhaps it’s the feeling of melancholy for all the happy memories that have come to an end.”
