Primal Scream and Dexys link arms on new song ‘Enough Is Enough!’ – tune in now.
The two groups went into the studio to work on a fundraiser for RMT Union, currently fighting against low pay, job cuts and attacks on terms and conditions. High profile strikes have caught the public imagination, with RMT leads Mick Lynch able to clarify his organisation’s position in sharp, distinct language.
‘Enough Is Enough!’ is a show of solidarity, a space for Primal Scream and Dexys to merge forces. RMT Union leader Mick Lynch lends a spoken word segment, and he comments:
“As we go into further strike action this Saturday this sort of solidarity, which these talented musicians gave completely free of charge, is an indication of the huge support we are getting from across the country.
“All the money from this single will go directly to our dispute fund which we are using as part of our battle for justice in the workplace. It’s time for the government to stop interfering and let us negotiate a settlement with the employers…”
In a note, Dexys frontman Kevin Rowland re-affirmed his commitment to union causes, and stood behind the RMT’s mission to gain a fair deal for workers in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis.
He says: “It is clear to millions that something is very wrong when millionaires get ever richer while workers are told to accept poverty. As we say in the song the media sets out to confuse people with lies and divide us with side issues like Brexit and culture wars while all we are really getting is endless austerity and cuts.”
He finishes: “We are saying Enough is Enough.”
