Hackney vocalist Mychelle has shared her new single ‘Tightrope’.

Out now, it follows a summer of activity from the songwriter, whose gorgeous voice melds together vintage soul, modern R&B, gospel, and more. A stunning vocalist, Mychelle matches this to her empathetic songwriting, her diaristic approach letting her life spill out on to the record.

Take new single ‘Tightrope’. Produced by Ed Thomas – who has worked with the likes of Jorja Smith, SG Lewis, and Jacob Banks – it blends the old with the new, attempting to echo the dynamic that Mychelle’s subtle lyric traces.

Mychelle comments…

“‘Tightrope’ was written about when you’ve got that person who is doing the most for your attention and time, but it’s not what is needed. Musically, I wanted the track to feel modern but still have the vibe and sound of traditional soul”.

Thea Gajic (Stormzy, Jords, A2) directs the video, and it carries a breezy, naturalistic vibe. The singer adds:

“Myself and the director wanted a film-like video that could work by itself showing everyday Black life”.

Catch Mychelle playing special show at London’s Omeara on November 4th.
