Max Jury and Delilah Montagu take part in a trans-Atlantic duet on new single ‘Is This Love?’ – tune in now.
The LA based songwriter is working on new music, his first major project since 2019’s rightly celebrated ‘Modern World’ LP. London Grammar’s Dan Rothman has come into the frame as a key collaborator, and he produces this new single.
Constructed somewhere between a friend’s studio in rural North Carolina and Studio 13 in West London, ‘Is This Love?’ unites Max Jury with Delilah Montagu. The two voices intertwine like whiskey and ice, with the pair steering their music in a warming, organic, acoustic vibe.
There’s a real Autumnal feel to their work together, as though ‘Is This Love?’ was built for dark nights under a blanket. “Delilah and I wrote it together in London last summer,” explains Max. “We recorded it with just a couple acoustic guitars, us playing and singing – more of a Kings of Convenience vibe. I love
her voice, she’s got a soft kind of power, and our vocals just blend really well together. Then I
brought it to Dan, and we finished it in London. We recorded the band live, and then Jimmy (Hogarth)
added some of his own magic in the mixing phase.”
Out now, it’s a gorgeous document, so human and empathetic in its touch. ‘Is This Love?’ comes equipped with some neat visuals, too, which you can check out on Clash before anywhere else.
Tune in now.
