Multi-lingual pop futurist Lolo Zouaï has shared new single ‘pl4yg1rl’.
The dazzling pop voyager made her name with a string of vital tracks, before unleashing 2019 debut album ‘High Highs to Low Lows’ to widespread acclaim.
Since then, she’s taken a step back, taking stock of her life, and recalibrating her art. New album ‘PLAYGIRL’ lands on October 14th, and the incoming 13-track project is led by the sort-of-title-track.
Out now, ‘pl4yg1rl’ is a dazzling piece future-fixated pop music, with the bubbling production reminiscent of those late 90s mega-bangers. We’re hearing shades of Janet Jackson, or even the gloss of Xtina, at play here, but – as ever – Lolo Zouaï can only ever be herself.
‘pl4yg1rl’ is a flip on one of my favourite Too $hort songs. I call it hyphy-pop. This single is the intro to PLAYGIRL and really sets the tone for the album to feel fun and interactive. So get your headphones lock up the bedroom door & log on to www.pl4yg1rl.com“
Tune in now.
