Montreal based songwriter Jonah Yano has shared new song ‘leslieanne’.

The artist’s previous work was largely DIY constructed, using a spartan but evocative palette. Snapped up by Innovative Leisure, second album ‘Portrait Of A Dog’ is due to be released on January 27th, and it affords Jonah space to paint with a fuller palette.

Produced alongside BADBADNOTGOOD, he’s currently airing material from the LP on a European tour, performing as support for Clairo – catch him at London’s O2 Academy Brixton tomorrow night (October 4th), in fact.

New song ‘leslianne’ is out now, and it’s a beautiful encapsulation of the approach he’s taking on the incoming LP. A languid, immersive miniature, it somehow builds an entire world within the span of 116 seconds.

The string-laden backing feels a little like those David Axelrod arrangements, while the dreamy melodies have a psychedelic quality. Ornate but emphatically emotive, ‘leslianne’ is the perfect stepping off point into his world.

Tune in now.
