Scottish DJ and producer Jamie Roy has died.
The Scottish artist was practically raised in club culture, becoming a key part of the Glasgow underground. A stellar DJ, his infectious energy would lit up the room, with Jamie Roy’s knack for reading a crowd taking him across Europe and beyond.
Performing at key venues across Ibiza, his dual role as a producer saw Jamie Roy establish himself as an artist, pursuing subtle but striking blends of house, techno, and aspects of disco.
Fans were shocked by a statement this morning (September 21st) from his family, confirming that Jamie Roy had died.
“Jamie passed away yesterday,” the statement reads. “Jamie was a much loved and talented son, brother, nephew and uncle and loved by his many friends and colleagues both within the music industry and beyond that. We are all absolutely heartbroken.”
The news has left fans shellshocked, with tributes pouring in for Jamie Roy. Paul Woolford praised his ability to light “up any room he walked into” while Jess Bays commenting “such a special person”.
Skream – a DJ and producer with close ties to the Glasgow scene – was left shellshocked, while Defected Records described themselves as “devastated”.
