Bristol has always been a staple of new music, and in recent years it has delivered arguably some of the most exciting guitar bands in the scene right now. One of the best is Grandmas House, a rowdy punk trio consisting of Yasmin Berndt, Poppy Dodgson and Zoë Zinsmeister.

After forming in late 2018, Grandmas House immediately stormed the Bristol scene with their raucous and energetic live performances, before following up with a slew of pent-up singles blooming with heavy drums and guitars, and some seriously gnarly gang vocals.

Today Grandmas House have released ‘How Does It Feel?’, their second single of 2022, following up September’s ‘Body’. This new track is a minute and a half of sheer energy. The length of the track creates for a blunt punch to the gut, the band deliver zero filler and execute a perfect punk track. Dodgson’s drums rampage through the track, with classic Grandmas House gang vocals echoing around the speakers. The vocals are frantic and chaotic, a guttural performance teeming with animation and dynamism.

The band say of the track…

“‘How does it feel?’ is a call and response between two people about the feelings of confusion you go through when breaking up. Sang in both French and English it is an explosion of queer angst and emotion.”

With a freshly announced headline tour for 2023, and output consisting of tracks like these, Grandmas House are a band that show no signs of slowing down, and are an outfit that you’ll want to get to know as soon as possible. With their no holds barred approach to punk, the trio are firmly staking their claim as one of the most exciting punk groups around right now.

Tune in now.
