Gossip reunite after over a decade and announce new album, Real Power

The album marks a reunion with acclaimed producer Rick Rubin, who helmed the band’s pivotal 2009 album Music For Males. On the coaxing of Rubin, the band began recording in 2019 after finishing a tour for the ten-year anniversary of that album.

“The tune is about truly being in love and feeling so protected,” says frontwoman Beth Ditto of the brand new single. The music video for “Loopy Once more” has Gossip as soon as once more collaborating with director Ssion (Fragrance Genius, King Princess). Shot in Kansas Metropolis, the clip is traditional Gossip, unapologetic and irreverent with unbridled power.

Recorded at Rubin’s dwelling studio in Kauai, the method was briefly halted by the pandemic and resumed when restrictions lifted. The result’s an 11-track celebration of artistic expression, and the facility of chosen household within the aftermath of collective and private trauma.

The timing is ripe for a Gossip reunion, and Real Power heralds a brand new period and renewed sense of objective for the trio. “After we started, a lot about Gossip was about operating away—that was at all times within the music,” says Ditto. “We survived. We got here from nothing, and we received the fuck out of there. And to be right here 20 years later and nonetheless making music collectively is simply unbelievable.”
