Floating Points has shared new song ‘Problems’.

The producer’s range is astonishing, with last year’s spiritual jazz centred full length ‘Promises’ finding the London artist working alongside Pharoah Sanders and a full orchestra.

New single ‘Problems’ is part of a flurry of one-off releases from Floating Points, and it pivots his work in a rave-centred direction. Attempting to capture the ecstatic revelation of the rave experience, it blends his sound design finesse with a rare degree of urgent intensity.

Fresh from announcing a special set at Here, London on New Year’s Day, Floating Points has shared ‘Problems’ in full, alongside visuals directed by Hamill Industries. The team shot dancers Hannah Ekholm and Jal Joshua and transformed their movements into sounds, with Hamill Industries commenting…

“‘Problems’ is meant to agitate every single room that its ecstatic sound waves reach, we wanted to celebrate it with movement and dance and reshape it through sound, by using techniques that allow the sonification of images.”

“We have used lasers that spin and move with the music, making visible their sinuous shapes. It was important that this video shaped the electrical feeling you get when being on a dancefloor, the urge of dancing when sound waves reach your ears.”

Tune in now.
