DJ Mighty Mouse has died.
The respected DJ was known for his talented edits, digging through the crates and then putting his own stamp on the music to craft fresh dancefloor favourites. His take on the Prince staple ‘Controversy’ became the DJ’s trademark, but in reality he crafted a steady conveyer belt of superb edits.
Real name Matthew Ward, he spent much of his time in Spain, where he had a home, but was booked to play a flurry of UK shows later this month.
Sadly, DJ Mighty Mouse died earlier this week, having suffered an aortic aneurysm at home. Manchester great Greg Wilson – himself no stranger to the art of the edit – was amongst the first to salute the passing of the DJ.
Other tributes were quick to emerge for the respected DJ:
Rest In Peace, Mighty Mouse. 💔
Everyone at Defected & Glitterbox are devastated to share the news that we lost Matthew on Thursday.
