Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse might be rooted in more classic musical genres, but visually they have always pushed the envelope when it comes to their video releases. When they dropped their previous video “Bungalow Paradise”, Classic Rock Magazines online portal ‘Louder’ exclaimed, “Fellow artists take note: THIS is how you do lockdown videos.”
“Watching The World Fall Down” is no exception. Mixing animation, live action and stop motion, it’s a visual feast that compliments the songs’ apocalyptic theme. Directed by singer Greta Valenti and guitarist Robin Davey, who have won multiple awards for their film work, the video also comes in two versions.
The first is optimized for viewing on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, its vertical orientation keeps your focus on the magical world the video creates.
The second is optimized horizontally for YouTube and shows a wider version. Here you see warts and all peak behind scenes, where the hands of the animators, are in full view, with props being handed in and out, make-up being applied. It’s a true real time look at how everything was created. Which incidentally took place in front of a green screen in Greta and Robin’s living room.
The single ‘Watching The World Fall Down’ now available on all digital platforms.
The band will be touring the UK in November.
