Be of good cheer – 30 Days of November has returned – Americana UK

In these times of austerity – the same old austerity, it’s not austerity V2.0 ‘cos V1.0 never went away – it’s good to be able to forage for things that will help eke out the budget somewhat. Autumn brings a veritable harvest of possibilities – it’s too late for blackberries, but edible chestnuts, various fungi (careful there – don’t eat a poisonous one), windfalls of apples and pears all out there for the taking.  Prime amongst all the goods of the time of year though is the annual ‘30 Days Of November’ collection of free downloads from the Grateful Dead.  It’s a double or even triple album’s worth of live recordings from all sorts of line-ups of Grateful Dead, and completely free – you don’t even need to sign up for the newsletter (but, why wouldn’t you?).

It’s already well underway (maintaining our tradition of posting this news just a little late) and you can catch up here.

In the meantime:

Sure, I could climb high in a tree, or go to Skye on my holiday. I could be happy. All I really want is the excitement of first hearing The Byrds, the amazement of decades of Dylan’s music, or the thrill of seeing a band like The Long Ryders live. That’s not much to ask, is it?
